Blanford Banter

The summer of 2020 was unofficially dubbed the summer of the staycation, with everything Covid happening we decided to get away to Blanford for a few days.

We stayed in a beautiful Air BnB that I would of highly recommended but we had some issues with the host after checking out so I’m not going to post any links. The house itself was gorgeous, really stunning and had literally everything you would need while staying there.

On night one we went for a walk around our Air BnB and took in the country side views, it was the perfect sunny evening walk.

We only visited Blanford town twice, once for a pub lunch when we got there while waiting till we could check into the Air BnB, the pub food wasnt the best but the setting was very picturesque and the weather was great on the day. And the other day we went into town it was pouring with rain and we ran in and out of little flower shops and coffee shops.

The very unique local flower shop we visited was Sweet Pea Florist Blandford https://www.sweetpeablandford.co.uk/ It really was very lovely and had some stunning flowers and plants in there. I know my sister would have LOVED it!! I bought some pampas grass from there to remember our little stay by, which we now have in our home.

On day two we walked up Hambildon Hill in Child Okeford which I would HIGHLY recommend, the scenes of the Dorset countryside were beautiful! The open space and wind was exactly what we all needed. Its VERY steep to climb so be warned!

We also visited Kingston Lacy- another national trust site, this day the weather wasn’t very good and it was very very rainy so we didn’t get to enjoy the grounds too much but we did go inside the house which was interesting. I’m not too big on walking around old houses but if its your thing you will LOVE it! I did enjoy walking around the grounds and seeing all the beautiful flowers and landscape.

We also saw some very sweet little cottages that were just too pretty not to take some snaps.

Let me know if you have been to Blandford and what you would recommend for another visit.
